Look for gaps and loss of grip
A seal that has pulled away, split or trapped water behind its edge no longer controls splash reliably. Surface mould alone may be cleanable if the seal is still sound.
Fix movement before resealing
A bath or tray that drops under load will tear a new seal. Support, fixing and wall condition need checking before the joint is replaced.
Preparation decides the new bond
Old material and residue must be removed, surfaces cleaned and dried, and the correct sanitary sealant applied to a joint of sensible size. Allow full cure before wet use.

What to remember
A new seal lasts when the fitting is stable and the surfaces are clean, dry and properly prepared.Bathroom fitters Glasgow
